Artist Spotlight: Joshua Bassett - June 2024

American actor, singer and songwriter Joshua Bassett is bringing his The Golden Years Tour to London’s Eventim Apollo later this year.

He gained widespread recognition for his role in the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, where he plays the character Ricky Bowen.

The Californian native showed an early interest in performing arts and began his career in local theatre productions and commercials before making his way to television. His initial foray into acting included guest appearances on popular TV shows such as Lethal Weapon, Game Shakers, Stuck In The Middle and Dirty John.

Bassett’s big break came in 2019 when he was cast in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series - a mockumentary-style series set at the fictional East High School where the original High School Musical movies were filmed.

Bassett has been open about his personal experiences and struggles, using his platform to advocate for mental health awareness. He has also publicly addressed his sexuality, coming out as part of the LGBTQ+ community, which has been a significant moment for many of his fans and followers.

In addition to acting, Bassett is also a talented musician. He released his debut single, Common Sense, in early 2020, Several other singles followed, including Anyone Else, Lie Lie Lie, and Only a Matter of Time.

He remains active in both acting and music, releasing his self-titled debut EP in 2021. Earlier this year in May 2024, he released the track The Golden Years, which will serve as the lead single from his debut album of the same name, which is due for release on 26 July 2024. His upcoming live dates including London will celebrate this release.
