Jul 11 Artist Of The Month: Jungle (July 2024)

British dance music turned modern soul musical collective Jungle are performing in Cardiff this September.

Founded by Tom McFarland and Josh Lloyd-Watson - they began life as a duo in 2013. The childhood friends from Shepherd’s Bush, crashed onto the scene with a catchy blend of pop with elements of funk, disco, and psychedelic vibes.

In 2023, the duo became a trio when regular live collaborator Lydia Kitto joined as a permanent member.

The band are known for their dynamic and engaging performances, often with high-octane lighting effects, a full live band with multiple musicians and vocalists.

The group have released four full length albums over the last decade. The first two albums were released through XL Recordings, while the latter two were released via their own independent label Caiola Records.

Their self-titled debut was released in 2014 and featured the singles Busy Earnin and Time. The album received critical acclaim, and a Mercury Prize nomination.

For Ever followed in 2018 and was inspired by personal experiences and travel, exploring themes of love and heartbreak, while 2021’s Loving in Stereo introduced a more upbeat and celebratory sound, and represented freedom and joy. Most recently, they returned with Volcano in 2023.
