Artist of the Month: TEMS (May 2024)
Nigerian singer, songwriter, record producer and musician, TEMS has become known for her unique blend of R&B, Afrobeat, and soul.
Taking influence from her family, alongside artists like Lauryn Hill, Burna Boy and Asa, TEMS has gained international recognition for her powerful voice and distinctive musical style. Considered to be a rising star since her debut single, Mr Rebel in 2018, she reached new heights in 2020 with her first EP For Broken Ears which included the song, Damages, which won her a Net Honours Most Played Alternative Song Award in 2021.
Since then, she’s grown from strength to strength, collaborating with fellow artists Wizkid, Future and Drake, further cementing her as a ‘one to watch’ in recent years.
Her work on Essence with Wizkid earned her a Grammy nomination. She has also been nominated and won several additional awards, including the BET Award for Best New International Act.
Quickly becoming one of the leading voices in the Nigerian music scene, her songwriting touches of themes of love, resilience, and empowerment, while contributing to the global recognition of Afrobeat and contemporary Nigerian music.
TEMS will be performing in London this summer.
