Every week we’re rounding up our top new and upcoming artists that we think you should hear – plus we select our favourite song of theirs. Koffee is a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, rapper, DJ and guitarist. Her 2019 EP Rapture won the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album earlier this year. She also features on J Hus’ single, Repeat, which was released in January.

Indie singer-songwriter, beabadoobee, has already accumulated over 125 million streams on Spotify and  was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2020 BRITs. She cites the likes of Elliott Smith, Mazzy Star, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and Daniel Johnston as her musical influences.

Willie J Healey is not constrained by genres, transcending from raw garage rock to Americana and psychedelia. He’s set to release his second studio album, Twin Heavy, in August and has already released two singles from the album – Why You Gotta Do It and True Stereo

American born British-Jamaican singer-songwriter, Celeste, was the winner of this year’s Rising Star Award at the BRITs. She gives a modern take on soul and blues, mixing it with jazz and R&B. Her latest single, Stop This Flame, was released in January and has already amassed over 11 million streams on Spotify.

LA-based hip-hop band, Carter Ace, is made up of O’Neil Carter, Fahem Erfan, Daniel Durant, Arshak Amirbekyan and Gio Alford. Most of the musical compositions are created by Carter, with the rest of the band playing an important part creating their unique sound – influenced by rap, hip-hop, R&B, g-funk, soul and jazz. They released their latest single, Got It Figured Out, this week.

Post-punk four-piece, Porridge Radio, formed in Brighton in 2015. They mix in elements of art-rock and indie-pop to their sound. They released their second studio album, Every Bad, in March to rave reviews from critics.

London-based post-punk five-piece, Squid, have an eclectic and energetic sound which comes to life at their live shows. They described their sound to NME as “the Coronation Street theme tune played on flutes by angry children”. Their latest single, Sludge, was released at the end of March.
