Artist Of The Month: Nick Mulvey (Nov)
Indie-folk singer-songwriter & musician Nick Mulvey first rose to prominence as a founding member of London instrumental band Portico Quartet before embarking on his solo career in 2011.
As a solo artist, his song-writing pushes boundaries and explores sound in a unique way, combining the traditional with the experimental, and merging acoustic elements with glimpses of electronica.
In addition to guitar, drums and the piano, Mulvey is also known to play the Hang – a type of musical instrument based on the Caribbean steelpan.
Since going it alone, Mulvey has released multiple EP’s including The Trellis, Fever to the Form and Dancing For The Answers, as well as three full length studio album’s 2014’s First Mind, 2017’s Wake Up Now and 2022’s New Mythology.
In 2017 he released the single, Myela, about the European migrant crisis and announced that proceeds would go to the charity Help Refugees UK.
Following recent dates supporting his newest release, Nick Mulvey will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut, First Mind, with new dates in 2024.
